I have visited the Dolphin regularly -2/3 times per year, for the last 15 years. It is now very well refurbished & is much improved, I expect to stay again on my visits to Southampton.

It was ideal for our visit to meet old friends in the Southampton area. It was warm and humid when we arrived and thought it unusual in a hotel like this not to have air conditioning. Also, the bed was not ideal. It was too soft. Have stayed in many Accor hotels before and these are usually very good especially in Mercure hotels. Other than these complaints we enjoyed our stay; the continental breakfasts were perfect for us and, given previous comments, we liked our room. Above all, the location close to the pier and the shopping facilities was ideal. We hope to stay again. As a retired couple, who once enjoyed living in Southampton, we hope to take advantage of any deals or low rates you may have.

Relatively minor but two of these, lack of air conditioning and a bed that was too soft, have been referred to above. The only significant other relates to the car park. It was in a poor state and would benefit from having a uniform surface and having numbered parking places. Places could then be allocated to guests arriving by car. As it is, parking is a bit of a lottery.

Location is excellent; extremely good value for money. Probably one of the best hotels in the centre of Southampton. Good for all types of traveller.

Rooms are slightly dated: could do with refurbishment/redecoration.

This was our second trip to hotel in 4 months. Requested a quiet upper floor room and once again the hotel kindly obliged. Very friendly and efficient reception. Now we understand the way the car park system works no problem at all! Great location in the heart of Southampton and great for us visiting family who live in the city.

Nice building, close to many good restaurants. Price value O.K.

Very small room, at maximum 3* size. Shower and bath very old.

First impression was staff very efficient and friendly and could not do enough for us during our very short stay. Would certainly stay with you in the future.

During full English breakfast plates were not hot.

The atmosphere of the hotel is great. I like old buildings very much. Also the room was spacious and nice.

The room was very warm and adjacent to the exhaust of the kitchen. It turned of at 00.00 but turned on at 2.30 again. Lots of noice. The room has a window, but no view. It felt like I had the worst room in the hotel because of my late arrival.

Very nice hotel with lots of history and a great location.

Our stay at the hotel was was made very uncomfortable because of the location of the two rooms. We were kept awake till 2 in the morning with the noise from the reception hall next door which had a loud band playing for a wedding reception one night and another function the 3rd night. The wall was shaking and the bed was vibrating. The staff finally moved us about midnight on the 3rd night to a quiet room on the other side of the hotel, but it was a single room which made that room very inconvenient. We would stay there again if the room was in a better location

Room service was very poor. Was told the wait was twenty minuets, it finally arrived 90 minuets later Agee three requests.when it arrived the food was under cooked.

Very central an close to the ferry to Isle of Wight. Stayed on 8 July and on 11 July. Dissapointed on 8th as there was a function in the room directly above our bedroom we were not previously informed and did not get to sleep until the function finished. However gave the hotel a second chance on 11 July and we were very satisfied with the reception and accomodation

The best point about the Hotel was its location.

Breakfast- no low calorie jam or marmalade available. No tongs either.

Glooky room in mews area with brown decor. No aircon and window sealed in warm summer weather. Tiny fan.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Our room was very comfortable. The hotel was very centrally located for both the town shopping, the port with its cruise liners, and Southampton's historical interest.Staff were very helpful indeed and made sure we were made to feel welcome. A lovely hotel we would re visit.

Very convenient for overnight before port journeys. In centre of town near good restaurants; great Chinese opposite.
